First here’s the science bit…Diamond Tiles is comprised of 16% Bourette Silk & 84% Egyptian Cotton and weighs in at approximately 320 gr/m2 following some breaking in.
Tiles arrived to me from the lovely Amy Stanhope just over a week ago and was already on the way to being broken in. From first look I was worried it would be for lack of a better word quite beastly…but boy was I wrong. After wrapping, a fair few pulls through some large sling rings and reasonable amount of sitting on - i’ve found that this wrap is really softening up while still maintaining that beautiful texture that makes this wrap unique. With just the right amount of breaking in i believe this wrap will become buttery soft. DT does feel textured in hand and reminded me instantly of Spearmint Lace. A wrap that lives here currently ( although sadly no comparison shots as its out on holiday)
Our first carry was a quick simple ruck as my one year old had suddenly become overtired and the dog was long overdue a walk. I found DT already had a little stretch and locked into place with a small amount of effort. It had a wonderful grip and felt incredibly solid for our hour long stroll. Ruck straps can really dig into my shoulders after a while but I’ve found this wrap has just enough give to be comfortable in even the sloppiest of wrap jobs. There is a definite cush factor to his wrap and it took me by surprise as there is a certain roughness to it. Next came a FWCC tied at the back and I found that a double knot at the moment is quite bulky but can easily imagine this barely being an issue as the wrap is used more and more. Then came a Double Hammock, I definitely noticed the texture more on the second pass but once in place it was easy enough to tighten and was such a comfortable and dependable carry. It quickly became our go to! We haven’t experienced any pulls whilst it’s been here and I think the double weave is the reason for that.
I also wore DT in the blazing sunshine along the now Winglet famous London Southbank without becoming a sweaty mess; the silk I think takes on a real cooling property. I can also imagine it sparking under the glimmer of the moon on colder autumnal nights. Making this wrap so incredibly versatile. This wrap is the perfect jeans wrap and felt it really worked with everything in my wardrobe. I particularly like it against darker khaki colours as it really makes the cream pop.
However I do have to hold my hands up and admit the design isn’t my favourite but after seeing it on my other half who was a big fan of the design/style I have certainly been swayed a-little. The colours take on a wonderful hue and really transform in the light. The flecks of silk dance across the different patterned blocks of tiles as they form diamonds along the length of this stunning wrap. I challenge you not to fall for this new Woven Wings design.
