18 months of wrapping experience
18 months/29 lb and 4.5 years/44 lb wrapees
I enjoyed hosting this Woven Wings triangles tester recently and have been mulling it over since then. The first thing I noticed was the color. I enjoy studying color - there are so many beautiful possibilities and what we wear can affect everything from our mood to how well rested we look! I can't personally wear these colors well, but they're well matched in warmth, depth, and intensity. I tried to define these colors as I found them so unusual. The green is a mix of muted khaki and celery, but the blue was harder for me to figure out. I think I'd call it a muted, warm, cadet blue. Both of the colors seem to belong in the soft autumn color range for those who follow the sci/art, draping system.
I love that Woven Wings has flipped rails so that there is never a "wrong" side to a wrap. There was little change in color or pattern from one side to the next on this tester. The colors were slightly deeper on one side, but the difference was minimal between the two.
I have to say, this tester had some wonderful wrapping qualities! I've had three of the Woven Wings fairies (WWs previously released in this pattern) and they all moved on although I loved them aesthetically. They were thinner and not as supportive as I liked for a bigger wrappee. All the triangles thus far have been quite thin, dense, and felt rather flat with minimal texture and considerable diagonal stretch. They also had a gsm of 251 and were all Egyptian Cotton. This triangles tester had a gsm of 321, and 13% soft merino for a bit of bounce. I was surprised when I calculated the gsm as this tester wraps and feels considerably thinner than 321. Not second skin wrapping, but certainly a snugger fit with significantly more moldability than you might expect. I was thrilled that the added bit of merino and higher gsm gave a delicious cushion and great support that I felt the previous fairies lacked. My previous fairies were amazing squish wraps and I loved them until my son reached 20-25ish lbs, personally. This tester still had a goodly amount of diagonal stretch for ease of movement, although not as much as the fairies did. I did notice that some combination of the weave+gsm+merino content made for a little extra friction while wrapping and I had to work slightly harder to get the wrap where I wanted it. Once secure though, it felt wonderful! Like a perfectly supportive, semi firm hug in wrap form. I’m waiting with bated breath to see future colors ways for this blend, I would love to own one! My apologies for the spam level.
