Let’s get the stats out of the way, Nessie (my nickname for this BEAUTY, she is yet to be formally named) is a blend of 19% Bourette Silk, 81% Egyptian Cotton. She’s pretty dense and weighs in at 305g/sm. As a size 6 folded on my lap she feels ever gram of that, wrapped she feels like a second skin. She arrived to me after some vigorous wash tests by Christina and a brief interlude with Morgan Bagshaw. Please don’t be tempted to machine wash her, C&S recommend handwashing only.

You must all know by now that I’m going to be pretty damn biased about this wrap. I have loved her since the moment I first spied her in Sarah’s SSS many months ago. She could have wrapped like she was made from sack cloth and I’d still have loved her, luckily she doesn’t.

The black and cream of Nessie have added a hint of vintage sophistication to the every day tasks of shopping, cleaning, dog walking and never-ending snot. Whilst she has been with us she has helped us through a nasty, molar induced, ear infection and on the umpteenth up of the day she has still put a smile on my face. She makes me feel like I’m wearing pearls, posh frocks and pretty face of make-up as opposed to the reality of jeans, converse and unbrushed hair, whilst having raspberries blown on my back., and for that I love her.

Silk is know for it’s slubs so before she arrived I’d wondered a lot about her texture, she’s smoother than I had been expecting and has a subtle texture to her, but the small slubs throughout the weave give her awesome grip.
I won’t lie, I have had to put some effort into wrapping and tightening Nessie, the grip that is great once wrapped makes her awkward to get tight initially, but the extra work is so worth it. Once wrapped she doesn’t budge. She has stretch across the width and diagonally but this doesn’t make for sag once wrapped, it makes her like a bandage, she wraps to you and sticks like glue. She is supportive, with the right amount of give to make a walk nice and comfortable be it in a single layered ruck or a double hammock.

I have found her slightly more difficult to get a good seat , whilst I can comfortably wrap my toddler, arms in or out, in all of my current WW Nessie somehow feels narrower (just measure retrospectively and STIH I’m getting 56/57cm). Her texture and grip that make her awesome also make her a tough cookie, the fine, slubby, texture of the silk seems to make her that bit harder to pull down Bean’s back so we’ve been going for lots of arms out carries to accommodate the narrower width. I have no doubt thought that she will rock as a shorty as well as as the long wrap I have tested.

I just hope that when the day comes that my internet and fingers are up to the job as I hit cmd+R repeatedly, I will be stalking Nessie hard!
