I was lucky enough to be surprised with this gorgeous green-grey-yellow tiles wrap this week. A most unexpected present!
Ok. Before we go any further. I'd like to admit something.
The first few times I saw the tiles fabric samples and wraps I thought they definitely weren't for me, and that's ok, not everything can be 'for me'. There wasn't enough of a pattern for me or something, and they reminded me of Tube seats.
YET AGAIN I have seen first hand the magic of Sarah and Christina's eye!
Their ability to make stunning wraps of the most beautiful designs in forward-thinking modern colourways repeatedly astounds me.
Designs and colourways that I would never have thought would work, but always SO DO!!! And are sooo perfect. Even down to the particular tones of the colours chosen. Even my sister said how beautiful it was!
Those tiles wraps are STUNNING!!!! So discrete yet so beautiful!!! And they look even more amazing wrapped!! How did I ever not like them??!!!!
Sarah and Christina seem to just 'get' what flatters women. I don't know how they do it time and time again!! Amazing!!
(I take my hat off to you both!)
Ok, so down to the wrapping qualities of this 'Kingfisher' tiles wrap.
The first natural comparison to make is with the silky geos. The silk Tiles wrap is flatter (as it doesn't have the superficial texture from the geo pattern) and is slightly thicker in hand. Now, I have received this wrap after 4 other people have all had a play so it feels wonderfully soft and floppy (so persevere with breaking it in!). Dare I say I think I ever so slightly prefer the feel of this than the silk Geos! It feels like your favourite soft sweater and my boys and I have all enjoyed snuggling with it on the sofa come the evening.
The silk gives it a wonderful weight and drape, and helps you glide the passes into place. The first carry I did when I unpacked this wrap was a DH Rebozo with my 4 year old. It was so good to tighten that he even complained that I'd wrapped him to tight! The rebozo DH doesn't have the supporting leg passes that a normal DH has, yet this wrap held in place fantastically. I carried him around while doing the dishes and putting out the washing for a good 40 mins in this carry before it was time for lunch, and his weight was well supported with no slip or sag. The slip knot was nice and grippy (I do my slip knots tight!) yet when I supported his weight it could slide smoothly. I love slip knots in WW silk wraps!!
I took this wrap out on two long walks (2 hours +) with my 18 month old over the weekend too.
I used it in a normal DH (my go-to carry), a Coolest Hip Carry (another chance for my slip knot), a Christina's Ruckless, and a FWCC (with flipped passes).
I struggled a bit with the CHC, only because this wrap doesn't have much stretch, so I had to tie it quite tightly which made it difficult to get him in and out (CHC is a poppable carry) while keeping it at the roughly the right tightness.
But it gave unparalleled support in each and every carry: No uncomfortable bounce or stretch/sag.
The colours! Well, there's squares of Mint, Snow Storm, Mist, Study of Sky, and squares of soft yellows, and blacks, and whites. It changes shade in different lights and depending upon what side you choose to wrap with!
If, like me, you prefer less cushy and heavy wraps (the cush of the droplets wraps, for example, is entirely different) If you prefer to be able to wrap precisely with a flatter wrap. If you love to neatly sandwich/pleat your shoulders and have support for days. If you already love the feel and texture of the silk Geos. (If you LOVE the smell of WW silk!) If you want a wrap with a pattern that quite simply comes alive when you wrap with it. A wrap that doesn't shout at you but is delicate and subtle in it's design.
Then this wrap is most definitely for you! ...it is most definitely for me!
